Matt Mau's love affair with music began early. His house was always filled with music, as his older brother was a drummer in a band. He would attend all of his practice sessions and longed to have a part in the magic. The music and the equipment fascinated Matt and with his brother's encouragement, he took on a more active role in his appreciation of music. He began experimenting with his brother's late 70’s Disco and Funk records, and later influenced by pioneering DJs, on the local Mix Show in San Francisco, he developed his own technique. The mid-eighties saw the beginning of a transformation musically for Matt Djing seemed a natural progression, first professionally on radio, then at the odd party, and club here and there. Enveloped by music and all of its endless possibilities, he played at different venues with friends at every opportunity he got. In their search for the ultimate party that vibed on until the morning hours, Matt and his friends, rented out local warehouses, where closing time meant the last person standing had already left building! An extension of the late 80's underground dance music was into House Music. His reputation as a successful DJ had already grown, and in 1991 he got his first break to play at a big underground event. The "Dream Machine" Alongside Community's own DJ Simon, at the San Francisco's Galleria Design Center, and the rest is history! Since then he has managed to be in the spotlight in prestigious SF clubs such as Sound Factory, 1015 Folsom, Townsend, The End Up, and has shared the decks with SF Legends Doc Martin, Jeno, Garth, Pete Avila, David Harness, and Mark Farina

All the while he was always looking for ways to alter the music and Introduce his own quality and spirit, which later paid off by stamping him as a sought after remixologist. Initially with a purchase of a primitive sampler in 1986, he set on the mission to "make it unique", which is also significant of Matt's current style.

Matt's passion with music transcends djing and his remix projects. He has surrounded himself with music in all aspects of his life. He managed and owned several record stores in Seattle, WA and California's Silicon Valley, which kept him up to date with new trends in the underground music industry. Currently, he is producing original music with the under--taking of  the Soul Vision team, Sandy Rivera, Jose Burgos and a sensational new  vocalist, "D'Layna". The union of these incredible talents has produced a magical team with an inventive flair. These original scores were just licensed to Distance, France and Defected,UK. In addition, Matt in under construction of his new record store "Remix" and holds two SF bay area DJ residencies including his own weekly event Pleasure with the belief that there should be more opportunity to listen to good House music. "Pleasure" exposes the 21 and over crowd in Silicon Valley to the sounds of House with a star studded weekly line up including Jay Sinister, Julius Papp, Jose Burgos, Dub Tribe, Eddie Amador, Rasoul, and Naked Music's Miguel Migs.

Matt has established himself as a successful producer, remixer and DJ. He has had great success with remix projects in the past years and has become equally known for his djing talents! To see Matt DJ live is an incredible experience. With a thorough understanding of crowd control and a varied record collection, Matt has played every imaginable time slot at clubs and raves throughout the country, and his ability to play opposite ends of the spectrum has been noted by many. He possesses an undoubted talent for seamlessly spinning every type of music but his true passion lies in this thing we call House Music.  Matt is definitely a crowd pleaser, and the energy coming from the turntables is felt wherever he goes. This DJ extraordinare has been djing now for 17 years, and has performed for many clubs and radio stations and continues to do so on a regular basis.  When prompted about future plans he replies, "To take it all a step further!"
