Gene King began djing in 1978 at high school dances in the city of Montreal, Canada at the tendor age of 13.   From 1982 to 1987 he dj'ed in various clubs in Montreal including Horizon, Astre 5, Limelight, Le Flirt and Puzzles just to name a few.  In 1987 he relocated to Toronto and played at venues which include Klub Max, Big Bop, Casablanca.   He currently holds a residency at one of Toronto's biggest and busiest night clubs Whiskey Saigon.  

Gene not only plays the music but produces it too.  He has remixed numerous 12" for labels such as Defender, Crash, Slip N Slide, Contraband, Hi Bias, BMG Warner Bros., Easy Street Records and many others.   He is the co-founder of Contraband Records which started up in 1993.  He worked with such artists as Kairene, Claudia Barry, Temperance, Taj and many others.  You can catch Gene alongside Ray Prasad and MC Chris Hercules on Toronto airwaves with his radio show Vibes N Vinyl.  Check the  Radio  listings for time and date.  For all his club gigs in the Toronto area check the Club  section. Currently Gene is resident dj at Tonic Nightclub (thurs-sat nights).  In 1998, Gene King co-founded Southside Productions with Mark Masters and Lil' Pete (2 local TO djs). Most recently Gene has remixed R&B/Hip Hop group TLC's  track 'No Scrub', Wild Strawberries, De Lacy, Jacksoul and most recently Black Masses.
